Funny

Funny Misunderstandings:
  • When Lydia sees the red furry monster on Sesame Street she points to her elbow. (She thinks Elmo is named after part of her arm.) Elmo = elbow
  • Today Lydia overheard Mama & Dada talking about hips - She pointed to her lips. She doesn't know what hips are yet.
Our Life Is a Game of Charades
Lydia has invented her own signs for things around the house.

When she was moving her fist back and forth the other day, I figured out that she was signing vacuum. She actually wanted to help vacuum.

When Lydia kept tapping her fist to her backside, we thought maybe she was needing a diaper change. (She usually does a different sign for diaper change.) We finally figured out that she was signing "tea" by imitating the motions to "I'm a Little Teapot."

When Lydia was tapping her finger on her palm at breakfast, it looked like she was doing part of "Patty Cake," so I thought maybe she wants pancakes. Another time when she was swiping her finger across her palm I thought she wants toast with almond butter. No, I finally figured it out she was signing "ipod."

Top Three Ways Lydia Has Tried to Get Out of Washing Her Hair
1. She signs, "All Done!" and starts climbing out of the bathtub.
2. She signed, "Diaper Change," which made Mama wonder if she had already done something in the bathwater or was getting ready to do it.
3. She tried to hide the shampoo by holding it under the water.
